Quick Presets:
Excluding FICA (typically 10%–22% for most US earners)
Optional retirement & insurance

How Take-Home Pay is Calculated

Net pay equals gross pay minus pre-tax deductions (401k, health insurance), mandatory FICA payroll taxes (6.2% Social Security + 1.45% Medicare = 7.65%), and federal and state income tax withholdings.

Paycheck Formulas:

1. FICA Withholding = Gross Pay × 7.65%

2. Taxable Wage = Gross Pay - Pre-Tax Deductions

3. Income Tax Withholding = Taxable Wage × Income Tax Rate

4. Net Pay = Gross Pay - FICA - Pre-Tax Deductions - Income Tax
